The use of technology has been regarded as a boost of knowledge to everyone. However, children may not know how to limit themselves when given the liberty to use technology. The current debate about children and technology is that many argue that if the young generation is left to choose when to use technology, there are higher chances of moral decay due to the influence of media content based on technology (“Guiding Principles for Use of Technology with Early Learners” 2) On the contrary, other groups argue that children need to have the right to use technology-centric devices since it is their rights to human life (Meates,2020). However, there has been a neutral approach where some people take both sides but they agree there should be advanced monitoring of how children use technology.
The rationale for choosing this topic is as a result of many cases of children who have been performing lowly in school. Similarly, others drop from learning institutions due to peer pressure they see from their environment. The use of technology has led to moral degradation where children have failed to respect older people. The common ways in which technology is used by children are through mobile phones browsing, personal computers, televisions, and radio. The technology devices have programs that are restricted to people under the age of eighteen, which is the common mark before adulthood.
The risk behind unwanted usage of technology by young people is that they can grow to be criminals or inhumane generation which may not favor society. On a positive note, some children use technology for beneficial ways such as in studying, entertainment, and developing their research. Many determined schoolers would consult the internet whenever they see challenging tasks while revising. All the young groups should be controlled on how to use technology. When there is controlled use of media, the world will have people with humanity in the future.
Many research materials can help realize the effect of technology use by children. For instance, the US Department of Education in the Office of Educational Technology has provided a raft of issues surrounding the use of technology by children. On the website, a user can find relevant information such as the cons and pros of using computers and phones while one is in school. Through the research, it is possible to have the ways of controlling proper and improper usage of technology by young people. Additionally, a journal by Meates (2020), discusses problems that arise when technology is used by children more so adolescents. The two materials help find actions that can help leverage the effects of the use of technology by children. Through the effects shown in the journal, a parent can get enlightened not to let their children use technology anyhow to have the right approach to the technology matter in children. All responsible individuals should understand the right and wrong ways of using technology for the young people accessing technology.
