Introduction
Decision-making is a complex process, and deciding what laptop to purchase can be even more complicated due to the multiple variables. Although many people assume that the process of selecting a laptop is straightforward, numerous factors must be considered when making this purchase. The Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) decision-making model can make choosing the best product for the user more organized and efficient (Al Marzooqi et al., 2019). In addition, the AHP consists of eight steps that guided me through the decision-making process. With many options, narrowing down the right laptop for an individual’s needs can be challenging. Therefore, a decision-making model such as AHP was integral to me when deciding to purchase a laptop.
The Selected Decision-Making Model
My chosen decision-making model for purchasing decisions is the AHP. The framework is a multi-criteria decision-making model that enables decision-makers to allot importance to each criterion and prioritize their options (Kułakowski, 2018). It is a crucial tool when making complex decisions, such as the one I had to make when purchasing a new laptop. With AHP, I could list all the criteria I wanted in a personal computer, such as processing speed, storage, generation, and size. Additionally, I could assign a weight to each criterion and then compare the options available to me to make an informed decision. Thus, AHP enabled me to make a more informed purchase by considering all the criteria I wanted in a laptop for my studies and helped me prioritize them.
The Steps in The AHP Model
The first step of the AHP decision-making process is to identify the problem. This involves defining and breaking the issue into smaller, more manageable components (Kułakowski, 2018). In this case, my problem was to purchase a laptop that met my needs. As part of this step, I considered the purpose of the laptop and any specific features or functions that are most important for the user. This can include the budget, desired specifications, and any additional features that are important for the laptop to function effectively. Additionally, I focused on any potential risks linked with the purchase, such as compatibility issues or hardware malfunctions. As a result, determining the issue to be solve is an integral process in the AHP model when purchasing a product.
Once the problem is identified, defining the laptop purchase criteria is the next step in the AHP decision-making process. It involves emphasizing more on each of the criteria for purchasing the product (Dos Santos et al., 2019). This phase demands that I consider all of the features and functions of the laptop and determine which are most important for the user’s needs. The criteria should include the desired features, budget, and specific requirements for the laptop to function properly. In addition, I assigned the most weight to cost, as this was the most important factor for me. Performance was the second most important factor, followed by battery life, weight, and storage capacity. Thus, this phase helped me solve the problem of choosing the most appropriate laptop that matches my needs.
After defining the criteria, the next phase of the AHP decision-making process is to identify the alternatives. This requires the user to research different products and determine which ones meet the criteria outlined in the previous step (Terzi, 2019). I researched various laptops and evaluated them based on the identified requirements. I looked at specifications, reviews, and prices to make an informed decision. Furthermore, I considered both online and offline stores, as well as different brands and models. I was able to interact with and scrutinize different types of laptops. This includes comparing each laptop model to determine which best meets the user’s needs.
Once the alternatives have been identified, it is integral to analyze each to determine which is the best option. This step required me to consider each laptop’s features and functions and find which provides the most value. This includes comparing each personal computer to determine which is the best option for the user’s needs. In this case, I evaluated each laptop model according to the identified criteria. I compared the models based on cost, performance, weight, battery life, and storage capacity to determine which one was the best choice for me. Therefore, evaluating the different products was important because I could make an informed decision on the most appropriate model for purchase.
After I had analyzed the different alternatives, I then made my decision and purchased the laptop that best met my criteria. I was confident in my decision and felt I had made the right choice for my needs. I read reviews and compared the different models to ensure I got the best laptop. I was sure to check for any additional features that I may need in the future. When I was done with the analysis, I made a final decision and purchased the laptop that best met my criteria. I feel that I made the right decision, and I am confident that my purchase will serve me well in the years to come. Thus, I am excited to take advantage of all the features this laptop offers and get the most out of my investment.
I was pleased with the functionality of the laptop I bought. Its design was modern and sleek, making it look great on my desk. The battery life was sufficient, allowing me to complete tasks while on the go. I felt that the laptop exceeded my expectations and requirements. After a few months of use, I was pleased with my purchase and pleased that I had selected the ideal laptop for my requirements. The computer was dependable, quick, and equipped with the features I needed. I was satisfied with the customer service I received and could seek assistance if necessary. Therefore, I was extremely pleased with my purchase and felt it was well worth my money.
Conclusion
The AHP decision-making model is an effective tool for making complex purchasing decisions, such as selecting the best laptop for a user’s needs. During the purchase, it is crucial to consider various factors, and this tool allows users to analyze and prioritize these considerations. The process of making a decision is divided into smaller, more manageable parts, and the user is provided with the opportunity to make an informed choice that most effective satisfies their requirements. Users are able to maximize their return on investment when purchasing a laptop by using the AHP decision-making model, which enables them to make the best possible choice. Using this model, an individual can identify the criteria that are most important to them, weigh them against each other, and ultimately arrive at a decision that reflects the user’s needs and preferences.
