Sears is an excellent example of a corporation that has had a tough time in the last decade. Competition from rival shops, a failure to keep up with evolving technologies, and bad management are just a few of the factors that have contributed to Sears’ decline. A crucial part of Sears’ business model has been to provide additional services in addition to the products and hardware it sells (Topleva & Prokopov, 2020). Nonetheless, this tactic has failed, and Sears has been forced to shut down many shops and lay off thousands of employees. Amazon is one firm that has thrived over the last decade. Amazon’s unified approach to doing business has always centered on doing the shopping and using the site as a positive experience for its customers (Birkinbine & Bilić, 2022). Thanks to this technique, Amazon has expanded rapidly.
Sears may have missed vital performance measures, including consumer happiness, technological advancements, and creative thinking. Customers are becoming more dissatisfied with Sears due to the company’s inability to adapt to rapidly evolving technologies. Moreover, Sears’ inability to innovate has contributed to a fall in sales. Amazon’s customer service, shipping, and fulfillment might be examples of KPIs it has disregarded (Birkinbine & Bilić, 2022). By prioritizing its customers, Amazon has expanded its company (Birkinbine & Bilić, 2022). In addition, Amazon’s success may be attributed to its product and service offerings.
The recommendation that Sears put more emphasis on customer happiness is something it could have done. Because Sears is unable to keep up with the quickly changing technological landscape, customers are growing increasingly disgruntled with the corporation. Investing in cutting-edge technology and providing an enhanced shopping experience for customers are two ways Sears may boost its popularity (Topleva & Prokopov, 2020). Amazon is the winning corporation, whereas Sears is the suffering one. Amazon’s success may be attributed to its dedication to its customers and its extensive product and service catalog. Sears has been unsuccessful because it is overly focused on providing services like repairs and installation and selling appliances and equipment (Birkinbine & Bilić, 2022). Amazon is a prosperous business focused on these three factors: happy customers; cutting-edge technology; and new ideas (Topleva & Prokopov, 2020). Amazon’s success may be ascribed to both its extensive product and service offerings and its commitment to its customers.
