“A Sand County Almanac…” Book by Aldo

The work of Leopold Aldo A Sand County Almanac and Sketches Here and There, showcases all the beauty of nature around people. As a scientist, ecologist, and forester, Aldo describes every element of nature in simple but exact words. The book is divided into chapters that bear the name of each month of the year, which implies the extraordinary beauty of the nature of each selected month. Even though the chapters of his book are short, they still manage to fit a large volume of descriptions of natural beauty and life.

It is evident from the text how much the author loves nature and is proud of her creations. He actively interacts with nature, for example, through early rises when he can enjoy the awakening of nature, the singing of sparrows and other birds with a notebook and a cup of coffee (Aldo 44). Nature is revealed to the author in the morning, and he notices every aspect of her morning rituals. Further, when the birds subside, Aldo begins to feel the sun’s warmth, which helps awaken the flowers (47). Nevertheless, people are actively working next to nature and violating the habitual habitats of animals, insects, birds, and plants.

The following chapters demonstrate people’s harmful influence on nature’s life. It is impossible not to agree with this because, for their benefit, people cut down forests, use various types of chemicals, and fire weapons to clean up the necessary territories. The author claims that flora is reduced due to grazing, the creation of roads, and agriculture (52). Nevertheless, the summer months are replaced by autumn, and birdsong is becoming rare; natural existence is preparing for the change of the season.

In conclusion, Leopold Aldo’s book entitled A Sand County Almanac and Sketches Here and There is a collection of short stories about the beauty of nature in different months of the year. The author describes the phenomena of the surrounding world, which may be invisible to some people, but which Aldo could not ignore. Many epithets used by cars show how endearing nature is to him and how beautiful it appears to him.
