There four commonly used research paper citation styles that you can use and they are the MLA style, the APA style, Chicago Style, and the Turabian citation style. They have different formats that you need to follow according to the writing style that you are required to write. Here are the samples of the research paper citation styles that you can use.

  • The APA research paper citation style you need to follow the following order in your reference list: Author(s), the date, the title of the book, title of the article, title of periodical, then the volume, pages the place of publication, the publisher followed by other information about the reference that you used.
  • In the MLA research paper citation style, you need to follow this order in your reference list: Author(s), title of the book, article or periodical, followed by the volume, then the place of publication, the publisher, then the date and followed by other information and the pages. 
  • The Turabian and the Chicago research paper citation styles are just the same in citing the different references that you used. Follow this sequence in citing using these two research paper citation styles: Author(s), the date, title of the book, article or periodical, then followed by the volume, the pages, the place of publication followed by the publisher and the other information of the reference.
