Learning the Trick of Narration without Boring Your Reader
A narrative essay, as the name indicates is an essay which narrates a story, an incident, an event or simple states something. The narrative essay could be based on a personal experience or event or could be written on an incident which occurred. A narrative essay should have a story or main theme to convey to the reader which is generally done by the writer through the essay. Narrative essays have a specific structure and begin with an introduction and a thesis statement.
The essay could begin with an anecdote or a popular saying which relates to the story or incident about to be told in the essay. The next section of the narrative essay will state the occurrence of facts as they occurred. The writer will tell the story, relating to true facts to the reader. Special attention will be given to minute details such as the time of the incident or event, the place where the incident or event occurred, the people involved and all the things as they actually happened. In cases when the writer writes about a personal experience or event, personal pronouns can be used in the narrative essay. Use of appropriate vocabulary will reflect the true feelings and emotions which the writer experienced in order to give the reader a clear picture.
The final section of the narrative essay should prove some point to the reader with the help of an effective conclusion. The narrative essay should indicate some writing purpose and should not be a boring tale of events. The final point could be some strength which the writer developed, or some knowledge gained through the experience which will stay with the writer for life.
