Writing Accurate and Well-Formatted APA Term Papers
An APA term paper is a term paper written according to the APA citation style, based on the guidelines of the American Psychological Association (APA). The APA term paper style is among the most popular and commonly used writing styles.
The other most important and popular writing apart from the APA term paper style is MLA citation style. An APA term paper will be similar to an APA research paper and will include in-text citations. The parenthetical in-text citations in APA term paper will include the last name of the author and the year of publication in brackets at the end of a sentence which has been referenced. For instance, (Brown, 2002) is an in-text citation style which should be used in APA term papers.
The primary difference between APA term papers and MLA style is the inclusion of the year of publication after the author’s name, which is substituted by the page number in MLA style. Additionally, the reference list is at the end of the paper is titled “References’ while MLA style lists it as ‘Bibliography’ or ‘Works Cited’ page. Another important point of difference between APA term papers and MLA citation style is the preference of paraphrasing rather than including direct quotations, which is a common aspect of MLA style.
The formatting of APA term papers should adhere to set standards with use of double spacing all throughout the paper and 1 inch margins. The font size is generally 12-point Times New Roman or Ariel font. There should be a title page with the writer’s name, name of the course and university and the date. The main APA term paper should begin on a fresh page following the title page.
